Nikko, Japan - November 2024
Each year I try to get away for a week during the Autumn. I usually spend this week exploring somewhere in Japan with last 2-3 days staying in Tokyo.
At the start of this visit I headed to Nikko, which is a small town around 2 hours by train, north of Tokyo. It's well know for its Unesco world heritage temples and shrines, and also for the mausoleum of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate, which was also the beginning of the Edo period in Japanese history.
The first day I spent exploring the temples which are situated in a dense forest on the edge of the town. Needless to say the colours of the forest during this period are spectacular.
All the following photos were made on a Nikon ZF with a 35mm lens.
The second day was spent hiking on the Senjogahara Plateau starting at Lake Chuzenji, hiking the 12km to Yuno Lake.
