Passo della Greina - Pian Geirett, Capanna Scaletta, Capanna Motterascio, Ghirone 23-24.07.2024
We had been wanting to do this circular hike for a number of years but just never found the time to do it as we didn't want to rush it in one day but preferred to do it in 2 days sleeping at one of the two mountain huts on the route.
Finally in July we had two days off work together and decided to finally do it, in clockwise sense, sleeping at the Motterascio hut.
Because of the heavy snowfalls during the winter there was still a lot of deep snow at the start of the hike but it was compact and quite easy to navigate.
I'm glad we did it over two days as it turned out to be very relaxing with only 400m of elevation gain the first day and roughly 1'000 meters of negative gain the day after with a total distance of around 20km.
